Ah the Peavey Classic 30. Here is an amp that we had admittedly let slip through the cracks as they say. Wow, what a disservice to our clients. We had forgotten how good this amp sounds and how well it is built. One of the original amps still made 100% in the US, the Classic series sound killer. The 30 is well, just that a 30 watt, all tube amp. At moderate volumes the clean tone is fantastic, cranked up the dirt is a great combination of American and UK tone. Small enough not to kill your back but loud enough for many live applications the Classic 30 is a real contender in this market. In and around the $500 range it is one of the best values that we had kind of forgotten about amongst all of the newer more trendy amps out there. There are lots of great amps in this price range and this is definitely one of them.

The world of small tube amps never seems to sleep these days and Blackstar is not taking any naps either. The HT-1 began shipping recently and it has become a regular seller here in our store. Based on the very popular HT-5 this smaller brother packs all of the same tone and features in a 1 watt format. Who needs a 1 watt amp you ask? The answer is lots of people. Anyone who wants a great tone in a low volume amp, that's who. Whether for songwriting, recording or just playing for fun, good tone is good tone and the HT-1 delivers good tone at low volumes. It's true, it's not a gigging amp but try to get a good tone at low volumes from your AC30 without waking up the baby. We've got these little guys in stock now for you to check out.

Over the past number of years, Roland has become the industry leader in the area of digital guitar amps. The Cube series of guitar amps have been considered the best sounding and by far the best in terms of design. While these guitar models continue to get upgraded, the bass side of things had not been improved until the recent Namm show this past January. To our delight, Roland introduced three new bass models which were perfect for us and our clients. All three models are based on the same award winning modeling technology as their guitar siblings. Each amp comes with 8 amp models as well as 7 effects giving the user a ton of variety. The two larger models include a Roland's famous phrase Looper for onboard loop recording. Throw in a three band EQ and a chromatic tuner and you've got the Cube XL Bass Series. With models ranging from 20 watts all the way up to 120 watts there is sure to be one to fit almost anyones application. Oh! and did we mention that they sound awesome.. They do!

With the continued success of the Blackstar amps in our store we have ordered some additional models. Coming soon to our showroom are the Venue series HT20 and the Club series HT Club 40. Based on the highly acclaimed HT 5 amplifier the HT 20 is the big brother version weighing in at 20 watts with a 12" Celestion speaker and an EL34 equipped power section. This amp is perfect for home, studio or recording work not to mention rehearsal or small performance settings. The Club HT40 is a 2 channel, 4 mode amp with 40 watts and the same 12" Celestion speaker ideal for performance but also very suitable for all of the aforementioned applications. All the specs and descriptions in the world can't really tell you why these amps are selling so well. The reason is obvious, they sound really good and apparently a bit better then what people have been hearing in other amps in the same price range. These amps should be arriving in the next few days. Give us a call and then drop in to give them a try for yourself.

Blackstar amps have been gaining popularity among pros and enthusiast alike for good reason. They are well built, well priced and they sound fantastic. Just in, the SI-45 Series One combo. This 45 watt combo has built in DPR power reduction allowing it to be dialed back to 4.5 watts making it as well suited for a large stage as a small bedroom. By manipulating both the power and preamplifier parameters the Blackstar people have created an amp that delivers both Class A style tones with a bell-like ring and classic push-pull crunch depending on the mode selected. ISF equipped tone controls let the user more precisely dial in the tone that they are looking for. Add in midi effect loop control and you get one of the most versatile, best sounding combo amps available. For more information you can read more at the
Blackstar website or drop in to take it for a test drive.

This morning our first shipment of Blackstar amplifiers arrived. This shipment included a small amount of HT-5 combo's as well as a HT-5 Mini stack and the Blackstar HT Boost Pedal. Still to come later in July is the S1-45. It didn't take long for the entire staff to get these babies unpacked and plugged in. The initial reaction was pretty favorable to say the least. Watch for a Gear Review video soon but judging from the staff's opinions, there is a good chance that you might like them. They're in stock now so come on in and try one out.

Yup, it's true. We have officially added Blackstar Amplification to our lineup of gear. Why another amp line you might ask? Well, while there are some absolute stars among our current amp lineup there are a number of amps that just don't seem to be exciting our customer's any longer. We theorize that guitarists are just not hearing any new tones or tones that they like out of many of the current amplifiers on the market. Blackstar is a relatively new company based in the UK. Their founders are made up of ex "other amp companies". While they have years of experience building amps, they have chosen to focus on building products that expand the tonal possibilities rather then simply duplicating them in different packages. We thought that this was a good fit for our store and our customer's so we jumped on board. Our first shipment is to arrive any day now so watch this page as well as
my blog for word. In the meantime, you can read more about these amps at
