We were only able to snag up one of these guitars at this price so don't delay if you'd like to try it or dare we say buy it. Lightning strikes twice .. another Lifeson Axcess !!

Gibson Alex Lifeson Axcess Les Paul
So, just a week ago we received an Ebony version of this Alex Lifeson Limited Edition Axcess Les Paul. In the ebony colour there were only 5 units shipped into Canada and we got one but it didn't last long. Two days to be exact. With that gone we felt a bit let down that we didn't get more time to enjoy it so I tried to order another. No more ebony ones but they did have a few of the Viceroy Brown versions left. It is the same except for the figured maple top (which the ebony didn't have). While the ebony was super nice and very very limited, this burst is pretty hard not to love. Anticipating that it won't last for long, we immediately made a Gear Review video and packed it back up. This is a really special instrument and something that any Rush fan would love to see. Drop by to see it in person, you won't be sorry. Full specs and information can be found on the Gibson website here. Read More...

New Colour for an Old Classic

Les Paul Jr in TV Yellow
Just in, a new batch of colours on an old model .. The Gibson Les Paul Jr has been kicking butt since 1954. Like the original this Jr is made from choice mahogany and outfitted with the classic P90. The bridge is a lightning bar wraparound tailpiece with a raised compensated bridge. In Canada, the only 2 colours that will be available (without special ordering) will be TV Yellow (pictured) and Tobacco Burst. Aside from looking cool, this guitar has incredible tone. Albeit not overly flexible, players might really love to add this to their collection given its very modest under $800 price tag. Drop in to check this one out, you may love it! Read More...

G & L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Arrives ..

G & L ASAT Classic Bluesboy
G & L is on fire these days. Not a guitar comes in from the folks in California that we do not unconditionally love. This latest ASAT Classic Blues Boy is no exception. Finished in butterscotch blonde with a tinted maple neck and locking tuners, this is just one more example of how exquisite these instruments are. The Blues Boy model has a chambered body and a Seth Lover pickup in the neck position which delivers a uniquely beefy tone for a tele type guitar. Read More...

Rush Fan's get another chance ..

Lifeson Axcess
After only a few days in our store, the first of only 5 (in Canada) Ebony Gibson Les Paul Axcess, Alex Lifeson models was sold. While that certainly makes us happy, we were strangely disappointed that we only got to live with such a cool guitar for such a short period of time. On a whim, I decided to check with Gibson to see if they had any more of the Ebony models. Unfortunately, the answer was no but they did have a few of the, also very limited Viceroy Brown version at the same price. So .. I jumped on it and placed the order. This model should arrive in the next few days. Watch for an announcement. Did I mention how cool this guitar was?? Read More...

Limited Edition Alex Lifeson Gibson Les Paul Axcess

Gibson Axcess Alex Lifeson Les Paul
Not unlike his guitar playing, Alex Lifeson has taken a very traditional guitar and turned it on its head creating a new class of Les Paul. Built from all of the same traditional tonewoods, this Axcess model sports two Gibson high output humbuckers with series/paralell wiring options and push-pull volume controls. The Floyd Rose bridge is also wired with a GraphTech Ghost Piezo bridge saddle pick up. So, with an exponentially more tone options then a regular Les Paul, this model is not only unique and collectable, it's really cool. The Axcess model is a limited edition but the Ebony model is really really limited with only 5 units being sold in Canada. One of those guitars is in our store for the time being. Don't miss your chance to see one of the coolest Les Paul's ever made. Read More...

50th Anniversary Pete Townshend SG

Gibson Pete Townshend SG
In the beginning, there were a number of versions of this renowned guitar. There was an SG Standard, an SG Junior and the SG Special with P90's. In the late 60's and early 70's Pete Townshend made the SG Special one of his guitars of choice while rocking out some of the loudest music of its time. The Who obviously went onto to greatness in the world of rock as did the SG. Made of solid mahogany and finished in Alpine white with a nitrocellulose finish for tons of tone and a comfortable light weight. It's neck is uniquely cut based on Townshend original preferences. Looks awesome, plays great and sounds incredible and there are only 600 of them in the world. Read More...

It's not called "Classic" for nothing

Peavey Classic 30
Ah the Peavey Classic 30. Here is an amp that we had admittedly let slip through the cracks as they say. Wow, what a disservice to our clients. We had forgotten how good this amp sounds and how well it is built. One of the original amps still made 100% in the US, the Classic series sound killer. The 30 is well, just that a 30 watt, all tube amp. At moderate volumes the clean tone is fantastic, cranked up the dirt is a great combination of American and UK tone. Small enough not to kill your back but loud enough for many live applications the Classic 30 is a real contender in this market. In and around the $500 range it is one of the best values that we had kind of forgotten about amongst all of the newer more trendy amps out there. There are lots of great amps in this price range and this is definitely one of them. Read More...

More G & L Legacy's arrive

G & L Legacy
Ah, it's a classic. The G & L Legacy finished in vintage white customized with a creme pick guard and knobs as well as locking tuners. Judging by the staff reaction to this one, my bet is that it won't be here for long. These instruments are among the very best value in American made traditional guitars. Their quality is unsurpassed, their playability is superb and they are priced very competitively compared to their distant Fender cousins. Come try one for yourself, we love them. Read More...

Gibson SG Special Faded

IMG_7089
When we talk about many Gibson products it is hard to say something new about instruments that have been around for as long as they have. The SG has been in production since the early 60's proving to be one of the worlds most versatile rock guitars. Gibson has reinvented the model in this less expensive and more bare bones version giving players of all income levels the opportunity to enjoy the SG experience. Built with all of the same time tested tone woods of the original and finished with genuine nitrocellulose, the Special Faded is an outstanding value. Read More...

New Gibson Hummingbird .. Just in

Gibson Hummingbird
What can we say about such a historic guitar. The Gibson Hummingbird has been producing legendary tones for artists for decades. It could be its blend of the best tonewoods. It might be its bridge design, the tusq saddle or the bone nut. Maybe its the rosewood fingerboard with its rolled edges. Who really knows, we just know that this guitar is hard not to pick up and then even harder to put down. There's a reason its been around for such a long time. If you haven't ever tried one, treat yourself. This is definitely one of the nicest guitars that we have ever had. Read More...

Gibson Les Paul Traditional in Honey Burst

gibson les paul traditional
One of my favourite finishes, Honey Burst. This is one of three new Les Paul Traditional's that have just arrived. Two of them have translucent finishes but the flames on the maple tops are really better then average. This one might be one of the best that I have ever seen in a production model. Beyond looking awesome, this model enjoys the chambered body for weight relief as well as the superb sound of the '57 Classic pickups. Truly one of the nicest guitars that we sell. A Nash S57 Masterpiece

Nash S57 Fiesta Red
We've had lots of Nash product over the years come through our store but for this particular guitar is beloved by our staff. Like all of the S57 models from Bill Nash, this guitar has specially designed Jason Lollar pick ups and is constructed from only the best parts available. It is finished in a slightly faded version of Fiesta Red. It is aged with what we would call light/medium relic treatment. Certainly aged but definitely not demo'd. Anyhow, it's awesome. We just finished and uploaded a Gear Review Video on this guitar. Click here to watch it. Read More...

New USA G & L Arrives ...

ASAT Classic
Hot off the press, or literally out of the box is our newest G & L creation. A USA ASAT Classic finished in Candy Apple Red. This beauty has not been modified much from the standard specs, just enough to make it a bit more awesome and not so much to change its price much. We upgraded the pick guard with a cream colour switch up and we added Sperzel locking machine heads for super improved tuning and ease in string changing. These small changes combined with the ASAT's awesome list of standard specifications all add up to equal another incredible value from G & L priced at $1299 CDN + HST including its original HSC. On a personal note, I'm not the colour Red's biggest fan but this particular red is very deep while still staying true to being red ... if you know what I mean. In other words, I like it which in other words means it's a really nice red Happy Pop into the store to check it out while it's still here. Read More...

New USA G & L's on the way !!

Legacy
With the addition of the Gibson franchise to our store, our custom G & L guitar orders took a very temporary back seat. However, as great as it has been to have all of those awesome USA Gibson's in, we have felt a bit unbalanced without a good selection of our favourite strats and teles. That's history now as a new batch of custom ordered USA G & L's have already shipped from California on their way to us. Here's what we have coming in... ASAT Classic in candy apple red with a rosewood neck and locking tuners. Another ASAT Classic Bluesboy in butterscotch blonde with a maple neck which we added the vintage tint to. A Legacy in 2 tone sunburst with locking tuners and a glossy, tinted maple neck. Lastly, we have a Legacy in vintage white with locking tuners. All of these creations have upgraded pick-guards as well as come with G & L's custom moulded case. They should all be awesome and are scheduled to arrive next week. Watch for an announcement. Lots of New G & L's on the way

ASTCL_Rustic_BtrBld_MP
G & L guitars have been a mainstay here at KAOS for the better part of the past 10 years. It's simple, we love these guitars. Their looks, their playability and most of all their quality. Maybe it's the fact that the company was founded by Leo Fender or maybe it's just because the guitars are such good value, either way we like them. We haven't had too many G & L guitars in the past few months but that is mainly because we just took on the Gibson line and we needed to buy a whole bunch of those fine guitars. Anyhow, we just ordered a bunch of new G & L guitars that should start arriving over the next few months. Anything from a standard Legacy to a beefed up ASAT Classic Blues Boy, they're on their way. Watch for an announcement. In the meantime if you'd like to read more about them you can check out the G & L website here. Read More...

Gibson SG Standard

SG
Hard to write something intelligent about the Gibson SG, perhaps one of the most iconic guitars of all time. Introduced originally in 1961 the SG was pretty crazy looking for its time. Today we take its body design for granted as it has been played by a list of world famous players too big to even start naming. The SG is simply one of the best sound guitars ever built and a complete workhorse suitable for any player. Its light but super resonant solid mahogany body and neck and huge double cutaway provide players with unmatched access to the upper frets. Its meaty double humbucker setup provide legendary tone. It sounds too simple but this is just one of the best guitars you can buy, period. We've got them in stock now for you to check out or you can check out Lou playing one in our recent Gear Review video. Read More...

Gibson J45 Vintage Sunburst

J45
One of the nicest acoustic guitars to ever pass through our doors. The Gibson J45 is one of the companies best selling instruments, not surprisingly. Its round-shoulder dreadnaught design delivers a wonderfully balanced sound while projecting like crazy (crazy in a good way). Like most Gibson acoustic guitars, the J45 has a AA solid sitka spruce top and the sides and back are solid Honduras mahogany. The fingerboard is rosewood with rolled edges and dot inlays. Complete with an LR Baggs Element pick up system and finished in a vintage burst this guitar is spectacular. Priced around $2300 this guitar competes with a choice few others from companies such as Martin and Taylor. At this level, most guitars are really nice and the J45 is definitely one of the nicest we've ever seen. You can check out Jay playing it in our video section. Read More...

Our first Les Paul Traditional

traditional
Well, it's not like we have never seen a Gibson Les Paul Traditional in our store but this one is the first ever Les Paul that we have ever received as an authorized dealer. I'm sure the buzz might wear off a bit but for now, we're still pretty excited. The Les Paul Traditional will surely be one of our best sellers as its design is very similar to some of the original early year Les Paul's. Also, at slightly less money then a Les Paul Standard it represents great value. For those who prefer a lighter guitar, the Standard might suit them better as the Traditional is the real deal in terms of Les Paul weight. Just one of many new guitars on our wall but surely one of the nicest. Complete details are available from the Gibson website here. Read More...

At around the $400 price range these basses offer exceptional value. New Yamaha Basses Arrive at KAOS

BB424X
Fresh from our Namm show trip we have already started to receive some of our new basses. In particular, Yamaha debuted some new models such as the picture BB424X and a bunch of newer finishes on older basses. In an attempt to beef up our bass department we have added a full complement of Yamaha's lower priced models (in some very cool new finishes) as well as their BB series instruments that come in at the mid priced range. In between these two levels we are happy to have received some excellent instruments from Vintage in the UK. On the higher end, we continue to be really happy with the basses from Godin. All that to say that our bass department has taken a dramatic turn for the better this past week and worthy of a look next time you are in. The BB series product is fantastic as are all the others.

It's Here !! Our newest Nash Les Paul

Nash Gibson Les Paul relic
I know that I say this every time about the Nash guitars but this is hands down, the nicest Les Paul that he has ever shipped to us. This is our 5th Gibson from our friend Bill Nash. Maybe it was this particular body or maybe he's still getting better at the process but this guitar is incredible. Not only is it beautiful, the aging on this one is a notch better then Bill Nash's usual mastery. As usual, these guitars sound and play incredible. It is in stock now so if you'd like to put your hands on this beauty make time to drop in soon, they don't tend to last too long. For more information on these guitars click here to visit the Nash Guitar website.
